The Relevance of Color

Any decorator or designer will tell you how important color is in our lives… the colors around us can change our moods, make us more or less active, productive, amorous, glamorous…

Why? Because science will tell you that each color is associated with a specific vibrational frequency. In fact, each color can be associated with a musical note! When there is a predominance of one or two colors in our environment, that vibrational frequency – and the characteristics or qualities associated with that frequency – will tend to influence the activities conducted in that environment – and the attitude of those in it, and even around it.

Says Sir Martin Brofman in his work on the Body/Mirror system

Each of the chakras is energy vibrating at a certain frequency, in a logical and orderly sequence of seven vibrations. As we move up the scale, the elements become more and more subtle, moving through the five physical elements of earth, water, fire, air, and ether, to the spiritual elements of inner sound and inner light. The heaviest element is on the bottom, the lightest on the top. It is a logical and orderly sequence.

The colors of the spectrum also represent a series of seven vibrations in a logical and orderly sequence, as do the notes of the musical scale. Thus, we can put the heaviest vibrations or the longest wavelength on the bottom and the lightest on the top, and a particular color can be used to represent a chakra in its clear state, as can a particular musical note. Music played in a certain key vibrates a particular chakra, and we feel a particular way when we hear that music. Our relationship with a certain color says something about our relationship with the part of our consciousness that the color represents.

Changing the color in a room, through paint, lighting or accessories will have a direct and profound affect on everything in the room – and everything that goes on there. The same applies to web site design, the choice of colors for your business or institution, and even the colors you choose to wear.

Try wearing a bright red, green or pink on the days that you are feeling down. Wear red when you want to make a power play or close a deal. (The late Prime Minister Trudeau always wore a red rose in his lapel to signify his power – and to remind him to stay with it.) Wear browns, greens, oranges and any of the earth tones when you want folks to feel comfortable around you. Wear blues – and especially turquoise, and bright sunny yellows when you want to stimulate some good ideas. Add red if you want folks to take action on these ideas!

Surround yourself with a bubble of white light when you are fearful – it is protective, and visualize yourself in a bubble of pink and green light when you want to attract, love, romance – and money! Or when you want to generate some healing energy within you. And you can send this color of light to anyone you know who might need healing!

How is it that some folks can so easily read our moods? Whether they realize it or not, they are sensing, on some level of their being, our auras, registering the colors there and remembering what the color means. Whether we realize it or not, each of us emanates color in our aura. Some of us are walking rainbows, some of us are black holes… Most of us will show a predominance of one or two colors in our auras, depending on our mental, emotional or physical health. And almost all of us see these colors or aura’s consciously or unconsciously.

Color plays as important a role in our lives as light and love do… and when we understand the meaning of colors and the vibrational frequencies associated with each, we can unleash their power in our lives.

What’s an aura?

Hi….My fiance recently told me that when he first saw me, he saw my aura and it was red. What exactly is a person’s aura and what do the colors symbolize? Thank You, Jen

The body is electrical – there is a significant electrical charge that vibrates through our bodies and this energy radiates outwards from the body… the energy field that surrounds the body is known as the aura. You can use dowsing rods to determine where your aura stops and to notice any bulges or holes in the aura. There are many folks skilled at reading auras and it is possible to take a picture of the aura using some special cameras. Within the body, the electrical current is focused in seven energy centers called chakras, each of which are associated with a specific colour which can be seen in the aura. The best way to understand colour systems is to study the chakra system – you should find information on the web… red can speak to anger and pain, is associated with the root chakra, but in this case, was probably representing the fire that was between you – could say he “lit your fires” – red is often seen in an aura when there is a strong sexual attraction… obviously, this fellow likes red… Good luck and Lotsa LLLove, Danielle

The Meaning of Color

I think I can see my aura. I see pink clouds around me, spots of pink light and rays of yellow around my face and head, what does it mean? Is it possible to see your own aura? M from Ireland.

To our sweet Irish friend, from Sherie, The entire universe is filled with that force which the Hindus call prana. These globules of vitality are flashing about in the entire atmosphere. They are almost colorless but they shine with a white or golden light. They are drawn into the force center of our spleen and are decomposed and broken up into streams of different colors, though they do not follow exactly our division of the spectrum. All these atoms are whirled around the vortex and each of the six spokes or chakras seizes upon one of them so that all those atoms charged with yellow would flow along one line, green along another, and so on. The yellow ray is directed to the heart and after doing its work there it passes on to the brain and permeates it so that is why you are seeing yellow around her face or brain. The pink is the rose color that permeates the entire body. In its vitality it has a magenta hue. After the body has used up what it needs it can become pink. The yellow represents the heart and the rose the spleen. Normally I would never make a judgment about what a person sees themselves because it is very difficult to be objective about our own aura. We usually see it with rose color glasses reflecting back to us pink (ha, ha). Sherie

The How’s of Reading and Using Colors

The scanning exercise in our Tips section is a good way of helping you to “see” auras and the colors around your friends, family and environment. By visualizing the person or environment as a ball of light and then looking into this ball, you will notice some colors there… these colors will have meaning and messages for you, when you know how to interpret them.

These quotes from Barbara Brennan’s Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing… suggests a way of reading the colors of the soul and then why color can be used to trigger healing.

“to read the colors of the soul level, clear your mind through deep meditation and then ask to be given the colors of the soul level. After some practice, these colors will appear on your mind-screen..”

“All the colors of the rainbow are used in healing. Each color has its own effect in the field. Of course, each color can be used to charge the chakra that metabolizes that color.”
